Our Story | BUCÏ

The seed for BUCÏ was planted in California. Wandering into laid-back hard kombucha bars where the sun hit different, the vibe was easy, and the drinks felt effortlessly good, we were hooked. The flavour, the energy, the way it brought people together… it stuck with us. 

Fast forward to a late-night tube ride in London, two years (and a few drinks) later, we found ourselves deep in conversation about our love for kombucha. That’s when the idea hit: “What about alcoholic kombucha?” From that moment on, we haven’t looked back. 

We brought on a brilliant creative director and got to work - refining, designing, rethinking, and refining again. The name took time. Many, many names later, we landed on BUCÏ (pronounced Boo-Che). We loved the way it looked. The way it sounded. The energy it gave off. 

We leaned into bold colours and clean design. Cans that look as good on your table as they do in your hand - or in your bag on the way to somewhere great. And of course, we went for stripes. Think Mediterranean beach clubs, vintage parasols, and sun-soaked loungers on the French Riviera. Stripes felt timeless and on-trend - a subtle nod to summer, style, and good taste. They became a signature part of the BUCÏ identity: instantly recognisable, quietly iconic. 

To make sure we were creating something best-in-class, we flew back to the US, bought every leading hard kombucha brand we could find, and brought them home. We ran blind taste tests, pitted them against early versions of BUCÏ, and refined again and again until we knew we had something that could stand toe-to-toe with the best in the world. 

It’s been a wild ride - every tiny decision has mattered. But every twist and turn brought us closer to something we’re genuinely proud of.
